Dr. Jameson Marvin, Music Director
60-voice SATB choral ensemble, formed in the fall of 2010. Our unique sound is achieved through careful attention to pitch acuity, balance, and uniform vowels that highlight linear clarity and expressivity. Jameson Singers also excel in offering stylistically insightful performances.
The Jameson Singers performs a cappella gems of the master composers of the Renaissance, Recent, and Romantic, and major works of the 17th and 18th centuries, ranging from the concerted works of Monteverdi, Schütz, and Bach, to the masterworks of Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn.
Our 2016-17 concert season opens with the Holiday Concert on December 4 at 3 PM at Hancock Church, Lexington, and on December 9 at 8 PM at First Church, Cambridge. Congregational Carols are interspersed joyfully with motets by Josquin, Grieg, Duruflé, and Rachmaninoff. The Spring Concert highlights Mozart’s “Requiem” (Levin edition) at First Church, Cambridge on May 12 at 8 PM, and at Hancock Church, Lexington on May 14 at 3 PM. Complementing the “Requiem” we sing Schütz’s “Verleih uno Frieden” (for the end of the Thirty Years’ War), an anthem by Sister Cecilia DeVere sung in memoriam for Abraham Lincoln, and Mozart’s sublime “Ave verum corpus.”
Tuesday evenings, 7:15 – 9:45 pm, Payson Park Church, 365 Belmont Street, Belmont.
