Dedham Choral Society

80 voices, SATB, one of the Boston area’s premier community choruses with members from more than 20 cities and towns.

DCS sings a wide variety of choral works in the original language and with the original orchestration.

DCS performs twice per year, in December and April. This season, both concerts will be held at Holy Name Church in West Roxbury. On December 7, 2018 we will perform “Behold New Joy!”, a holiday concert featuring pieces by living composers Cecilia McDowall, Bob Chilcott, Karl Jenkins, and Shawn Kirchner, as well as sing-along carols. On April 7, 2019 we will perform “You are the Music” and “Requiem for the Living,” and the first performance in our area of “The Music of Living,” all by American composer Dan Forrest.

Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. at Allin Church, 683 High Street, Dedham. Our next open rehearsals/auditions will be held in January 2019.

DCS' spring concert featuring works by American composer Dan Forrest (born 1978) will open with two shorter pieces, “The Music of Living” and “You Are the Music,” followed by the Boston premiere of the powerful “Requiem for the Living,” a five-movement composition scored for chorus, organ and chamber ensemble (violin, cello, flute, oboe, horn, harp, and percussion).
