Boston Saengerfest Men’s Chorus, 50-plus singers from the Greater Boston area, enjoys the camaraderie of singing at weekly rehearsals and performing four or five concerts each year. The Chorus’ wide-ranging repertoire includes traditional American folk music, classical pieces, newly commissioned original works
and arrangements, show tunes, plus English and Welsh songs and anthems.

The Chorus was formed in 1992 when members of their original 1903 quarterly singing society were invited by the London Welsh Male Voice Choir to participate in the latter’s Festival of Welsh Male Choirs in London’s Royal Albert Hall in October 1992. The Chorus has returned regularly to sing in the biennial Albert Hall Welsh Male Voice Chorus Festivals.

Past performance venues for Saengerfest include Jordan Hall, Sanders Theatre, Carnegie Hall, Salisbury, Southwark and Winchester Cathedrals, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, Faneuil Hall, and WGBH’s studios for 2019’s fifth season of “Sing That Thing.” In addition to New England, the Chorus has concertized in Canada, England, Ireland, Wales, and Portugal, Most recently, Saengerfest performed in Madrid and Barcelona in May 2019. All this, plus singing regularly at Faneuil Hall naturalization ceremonies and offering several vocal workshops for the region’s avid singers.

Sound Investment echoes the days of college à cappella groups. An outgrowth of the Boston Saengerfest
Men’s Chorus and the parent organization, it was formed in 2003 to add another dimension to the Men’s Chorus concerts. The ensemble’s repertoire runs from barbershop to doo-wop and vocal jazz.
