Masterworks Chorale presents Handel’s Utrecht Jubilate
Sat, May 18 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT$5 – $50
Come hear two glorious works of George Frideric Handel, his Utrecht Jubilate and I Will Magnify Thee, O God. A native of Germany who journeyed in Italy before settling in England, Handel was history’s first truly international composer, and our concert will include music by composers from those nations: Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Lotti, and Henry Purcell. We will be joined by a period orchestra of some of Boston’s best Baroque instrumentalists.
Kevin Leong conducts the 75-voice Masterworks Chorale and a professional Baroque orchestra on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 8:00 PM at Harvard University’s Sanders Theatre (45 Quincy Street) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The concert features a superb trio of Boston-based soloists: mezzo-soprano Margaret Lias, tenor Jason McStoots, and baritone Sumner Thompson.
A pre-concert talk by Dr. Laura Stanfield Prichard precedes the concert at 7:30 PM. Dr. Prichard is a regular pre-concert speaker and writer for the San Francisco and Chicago Symphonies and is the Principal Lecturer for Boston Baroque and Boston Opera Collaborative.
Tickets are $50, $35, and $20 and can be purchased online at www.masterworkschorale.org/concerts/tickets. $5 Student Rush Tickets may be purchased 90 minutes prior to the performance, as available. Ample free parking is available in the garage at 7 Felton Street, between Broadway and Cambridge Streets. A Harvard Square restaurant is offering a dining special before and after the concert. Those presenting a Masterworks Chorale concert ticket or Will Call Ticket Voucher to Grafton Street Pub and Grill will receive a complimentary dessert with the purchase of an entree. Reservations are recommended.
