Join GBCC at MassCreative’s second Arts Matter Advocacy Day at the State House. This is a great opportunity to “channel your arts advocacy energy… to show our state political leaders that arts still matter in Massachusetts”!

Please note we’ll be having a GBCC member meet-up from 8:30-9:30am at Caffe Nero (560 Washington St.) and then make our way to the Paramount. Be sure to pick up your “boston sings” button at the cafe or from Alison in the Paramount lobby (she’ll have a sign).

9:30: Registration, breakfast, socializing at the Paramount Center, (559 Washington St., Boston 02111)
10:00: Welcome (Emcee: David Howse, ArtsEmerson)
10:30: How to be an effective arts advocate
-How to tell your story for social change
-Sara Stackhouse, Boston Conservatory at Berklee and MASSCreative Board Chair
-State Funding for the Arts with Barbara Grossman, Massachusetts Cultural Council Board Member
-Arts Education with Myran Parker-Brass, Boston Public Schools
-Creative Placemaking with Deborah Greel, Public Art Planner, City of Salem
-Cultural Caucus with Representative William “Smitty” Pignatelli (D-Lenox)
-Performance: Conservatory Lab Charter School String Orchestra
–Sample role-play with legislator
-Prep for meeting with your legislators
12:30: Arts Matter March from the Paramount Center to the MA State House (with street bands!)
1:30: Meet with your legislators in the MA State House
2:45: Debrief with Representative Chris Walsh (D-Framingham)
