Known for its highly expressive and nuanced choral sound, the Jameson Singers has earned critical acclaim since its founding by Dr. Jameson Marvin in 2010. The 70-voice ensemble’s repertoire includes a cappella works from the 15th century to the present day, as well as choral-orchestral masterworks by Monteverdi, Schütz, Bach, Handel, Mozart, Brahms, and Fauré.

AUDITIONS

Auditions for the Jameson Singers are usually held each September and January. The audition consists of scales, ear and pitch memory exercises, and sight-reading in order to evaluate voice, ear, and reading abilities. A prepared piece is not required, but prior musical experience is expected.

REHEARSALS AND CONCERTS

The Jameson Singers performs several concerts of choral-orchestral and smaller a capella works each season. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings from 7:15-9:45 p.m. at Payson Park Church, 365 Belmont St, Belmont, MA from September through April. Street parking is available, and the church is on the #73 bus line from Harvard Square.

DUES

Singers are required to pay yearly membership dues, plus a small music fee per semester, to help cover our operating costs. The Jameson Singers are committed to welcoming singers regardless of financial status, and we do not want dues to be a barrier for anyone to sing with us. If dues are a hardship for any reason, we are happy to find an arrangement that works for you.
