Dedham Choral Society presents Handel’s Messiah, Arr. W. A. Mozart
Fri, December 6 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm EST$5 – $35
Handel’s Messiah remains one of the most beloved choral works, 277 years after its first performance in Dublin, Ireland. The Christmas season will see many performances, small to large in scale, by professional groups to community and church choirs, as well as the many Messiah-sings! This performance is unique in that it employs the version created in 1789 by another great composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who assigned some of the choral parts to the soloists, and added flutes, clarinets and horns to the orchestra. In addition to the complete Christmas portion, you will be treated to the magnificent Hallelujah Chorus and Worthy is the Lamb-Amen, the final movement of the complete Messiah. With a quartet of professional soloists, full orchestra and a ninety-voice chorus (plus two sing-along carols), this will truly be a sonic spectacular!
