Cantilena Concert: “Fire Flowers: Hope and the Resilience of the Human Spirit”

At 4:00 p.m. on Sunday December 8, 2019, Cantilena presents “Fire Flowers: Hope and the Resilience of the Human Spirit” a collection of choral works for women’s voices that inspire hope and celebrate resilience in the face of adversity.
The program highlights “Anne Frank: A Living Voice” for chorus and string quartet. American composer Linda Tutas Haugen uses selected entries from The Diary of Anne Frank to take the listener through Anne’s inner journey from fear and despair to strength and hope.
Other works include Fire Flowers (from the suite Heart Songs of the White Wampum) by Timothy Corlis, A Hope Carol by David Conte, I Shall Keep Singing by Brian Holmes, Starting Now by Jocelyn Hagen, and Light of a Clear Blue Morning by Dolly Parton, arranged by Craig Hella Johnson.
