Back Bay Chorale presents Caroline Shaw’s “Seven Joys”
Sat, November 10 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Please join the Back Bay Chorale as we open our 2018-2019 season with the premiere of Pulitzer Prize® winner Caroline Shaw’s Seven Joys, a multi-movement rumination on ‘joy’ commissioned by the Chorale for this performance. Caroline’s music has been described by the Philadelphia Inquirer as, “an American sound that is both broad and serene; a pulsing, meditative expansion of sound.” The concert is rounded out by works by modern and traditional composers, including Jonathan Dove (1959), Benjamin Britten, Edward Elgar, and Samuel Barber’s choral setting of his beloved Adagio for Strings, titled Agnus Dei.
We are excited to partner with our frequent collaborators and audience favorite, Majestic Brass, and to introduce our new assistant conductor, Katherine Chan, who will lead two of the works on the program. Join the Chorale for an evening of music exploring themes of joy, devotion, beauty and lasting peace.
