Topic, Workshop: J.S. Bach chorales and choral works by those he influenced

Ryan Turner, Artistic Director of Emmanuel Music, led GBCC members in a sing-through of select J.S. Bach chorales and choral works by those he influenced, including Mendelssohn. Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to sing for an expert in the performance of Bach! This workshop was open to singers of all abilities, whether affiliated with a GBCC member choir or not.
The workshop took place at Church of Our Saviour, Brookline, upstairs in the Parish Hall from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm with an admissions fee of $5.00 for GBCC members, $5.00 for students with valid ID, and $10.00 for non-members.
Topic, General: Living Your Mission

Is your choir looking to re-energize around its core purpose? Meeting attendees were able to take inspiration from GBCC member choirs whose missions are a daily touchstone. Members heard from representatives from Coro Allegro, Triad: Boston’s Choral Collective, Voices 21c, and Mystic Chorale about how their unique missions guide not only their artistic programming but also their marketing, fundraising, and operational activities. They also discussed the rewards, and challenges, of creating cultures where mission is shared and debated.

Member choirs and music directors including Boston Choral Ensemble, Boston Cecilia, and Kevin Leong (Masterworks Chorale and Concord Chorus) shared tips for managing smooth leadership transitions, whether artistic, staff or board.
This presentation was recommended for: board members and those in your organization responsible for hiring decisions. It was FREE to GBCC members.
