Revels, George Emlen, music director
|
| Revels RiverSing: 6th annual family celebration of the autumnal equinox with public singing. Soloists, chorus and band lead thousands along the Charles River in familiar songs as the sun sets. Wordsheets available to all. Saxophonist Stan Strickland plays evocative improvisations from a sun-moon boat drifting slowly down the river, as everyone joins in on "River Hymn."
RiverSing, a free event, takes place at the John W. Weeks Bridge, across Memorial Drive (which will be closed) from DeWolfe St. in Cambridge. A parade to the river starts at Winthrop Park in Harvard Square at 5:45, or bring a picnic supper at 5:00 and await the beginning of the event at 6:00. RiverSing ends at around 7:15 as darkness fall. For more information, go the RiverSing page on the Revels website: http://www.revels.org/calendar/riversing/.
Anyone who is interested in joining the RiverSing chorus and who come to an evening rehearsal on Tuesday, September 14, in Watertown should contact Revels production manager Lynda Johnson at ljohnson@revels.org. |
