Taking its name from the Latin for "let us rejoice," Exsultemus has been hailed for its "stunningly unified ensemble sound" (The Carlisle Mosquito) and "thrilling...beautiful" performances (Goldberg) of vocal music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. Modeled after small estate and chapel choirs, the singers of Exsultemus perform without a conductor, collaborating as a chamber ensemble to offer uniquely vibrant and engaging performances that communicate directly with their audiences. Since its founding in 2003 by soprano Shannon Canavin, Exsultemus has performed music spanning seven centuries and a dozen countries, allowing audiences to experience an exceptional range of early vocal repertoire. Exsultemus has been heard on WGBH Radio Boston and as part of audio tours at the Folger Shakespeare Library (Washington, DC) and the Higgins Armory Museum (Worcester, MA).
