Calliope, Boston's collaborative choral/orchestral ensemble, is holding auditions for singers and instrumentalists for our next concert. Rehearsals (Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:30) will begin in early June for the performance on September 7, 2013, “Thresholds and Bookends." The program for this concert will be Edward Elgar's oratorio "The he Kingdom," the second part of an incomplete trilogy about the Apostles. Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 4, and Tuesday, May 14, at 855 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston (Boston University College of Fine Arts). The Oriana Consort holds auditions in Cambridge on Thurs. eve.
May 2 & Sat. aft. May 4 for 1 first alto & 1 second tenor. The two whom
we accept will join our chorale, rehearse & perform a sendoff concert
(probably July 21), & depart July 26 for a 10-day, 4-concert tour to
Frankfurt & Leipzig. Travel & lodging cost to each member will be
between $350 & $600. Tour group (now lacking one alto & one tenor) will
be 6s-6a-6t-6b. Oriana is an accomplished small chorale with an eclectic
repertory, enthusiastic audiences, & a warm & attractive sound. Works on
our tour program, which we’ve already performed twice in April, are by
Bach, Mendelssohn, Hindemith, Telemann, Barber, Bernstein, Fine, &
